Oozing & Stringing
Unwanted strands of melted filament left on a printed model, often resulting in visible strings or "stringing" on the finished product.
Nozzle Clog
3D printing occurs when debris or solidified filament blocks the printer's nozzle, causing disruptions in the printing process and potentially resulting in poor print quality.
Layer Shifting
Moistured filament releases steam as it melts, causing inconsistent extrusion and pressure fluctuations that make the nozzle skip or misplace steps, resulting in layer shifting.
Warping
Printing parts bend or curl due to uneven cooling and material shrinkage, causing lift from the build plate. Common issue with ABS filaments. Mitigation involves heated beds and enclosed chambers.
Moisturized filament can severely disrupt 3D printing by causing the plastic to bubble and pop as the absorbed water turns to steam during extrusion, leading to inconsistent flow, weak layer bonding, poor surface finish, and even mechanical issues like skipped steps or layer shifting. These defects not only reduce print quality but also increase the chances of failed prints and wasted material. A Weavum filament dryer box addresses these problems by gently heating and actively dehumidifying the filament before and during printing, removing the moisture that causes instability in the melt. By keeping the filament dry and stable, the dryer box ensures smoother extrusion, stronger layers, and more reliable, high-quality prints every time.
